Case Study - True Grit
Directors and Writers: Ethan Coen and Joel Coen
Cast: Jeff Bridges, Hailee Steinfield and Matt Damon.
Release Date: December 22, 2010
Genre: Western
Budget: $38,000,000
Gross: $244,900,000
Idea into making the film: Ethan Coen stated that the film would be a more faithful adaption of the novel than the 1969 version. This film is a re make from the old 'True Grit' film, these directors made a newer version to get a bigger audience and the audience would be massive because everyone already know the film from watching it over 30 years ago so everyone would be interested in watching it again and how the same film could change over a long period of time with more special effects and new equipment introduced into the film industries. The directors were maybe so into the film and they liked it so much they wanted to do the same storyline but target the new audience in this new generation.

Case Study - Titanic
Director and Writer: James Cameron
Producer: Jon Landau
Cast: Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet
Genre: Romance
Release Date: December 19, 1997
Budget: $ 200,000,000
Gross: $1,835,300,000
Idea: Director had a fascination with shipwrecks, he shot actual footage of the actual titanic wrecks, he was maybe inspired by this. Titanic is a true story as well, so maybe he wanted to make people aware what happened to the ship and the love story. The love story could be linked with human loss, making the film more interesting.
The trailer did give an idea about what will happen throughout the film, it gave the audience a rough idea by showing key scenes and key lines from the original film. It start off in how the whole Titanic story has been brought up again and why is the story of the ship and the love adventure between Rose and Jack been told. There are no special effects or voice over, the trailer gives the audience more interest just by making it simple and going straight into the point.

Audience Feedback From My Pitch
I have been going around asking what do they think about my short film and I have gathered a lot of comments and put them into a conclusion to improve my film. A lot of people have given me new ideas for my film, which was very helpful as it gives me more various options to improve. They gave me some useful tips on what to use for my props, how to open scene in the film and how to use the camera, like when to use close ups and long shots. It was very interesting what people thought of my film as it gave me a lot of new ideas so I could put them together to make a good short film. Almost everyone liked my short film which I was very pleased with, however, some of them thought it was too simple so they gave me more ideas on how to make the film more interesting.
Pitch For A Short Film
Title for my short film: Run Away
Genre: Horror/Thriller
Props/Settings: In a big old house, forest, clothes, knives (weapons), fake blood.
Target Audience: Both genres, 16 - 50 year olds.
Description of the film: A young teenager called Amy Yail is left alone in her house, her parents are out for the night and leave their daughter behind to take care of the house. She is an only child so she is left completely alone. Later that night she invites two of her friends. She hears weird noises at random times around the house but she remembers the house is quite old so she is not that bothered about the strange noises. Carl and Sarah arrive to her house, they've planned to have a night in around her house watching films and gossip, however, she doesn't know someone else is in the house.
I will be using various techniques to create the scene. To begin with there will be a long shot focusing the house and then moving slowly closer to the house focusing on the door, the door opens and will show the family talking in the house. I will be using medium and close up shots, to show the emotions people create when scared so tension builds up throughout the scene. Props will be used for dead bodies, blood and the damages caused all around the house.
